A few weeks ago, Nick Scheidies asked me if I wanted to go on a walk. I had a long day, I was tired, and I wanted to go home. But a walk seemed like the right thing to do.

For those of you who don’t know Nick Scheidies, we were co-authors of this book.

So we started our walk with no aim, mission, or purpose other than to talk. About an hour and three miles later, that walk got serious, real serious. Nick helped me realize how arrogant and selfish I had been with my entrepreneurial aspirations.

If you’re looking to start a company as a college student, stop looking for that big idea. Look for a big problem, then solve it. Out of these ten incredible companies, only three were originally founded as businesses.

I could never learn what I’m learning at college. They don’t teach it there, because it can’t be learned in that way.

That was a quote from the 2008 Young Inventor of the Year. A 15-year-old kid who invented a new way to splice optical fibers. And it’s true. The important things can’t be learned in business school or any other classroom for that matter.

So I made a list of 101 things I’ve learned through three years of being an internet entrepreneur. Learn them here but they won’t sink in until you try them yourself.

Last summer, I was watching Dragon Ball Z with a high school dropout who had made millions by 21 when he asked, “What do they teach in business school?”

Here’s a 22-year-old kid who has made more money than most people will ever make, yet he asked as though he missed out on something. I graduated from a top 100 business school but I didn’t really know how to answer his question. So I made this list.

After scrounging through my $40,000 college education, I managed to come up with 101 things I learned in business school.
